If you use the Firefox or Internet Explorer (version 7.0) here are some add-ons that will make it very easy to search the library catalog directly from your browser.
Catalog Search Plugins
The latest version of Internet Explorer (7.0) and Firefox have an Integrated Search Box in the top right corner of the browser. This Search Box has the ability to preload search engines such as Amazon, Google, eBay, Yahoo, and more.
How to use
Using this search box is quick and easy. Whenever you are on the web, no matter which web site you are on, you can type search terms in the box. Click on the down arrow to choose the site you want to search and hit <ENTER>. You get immediate search results from your chosen search site on your screen.
Add EBPL Catalog Search to your Search choices
You can add The Library catalog to your search engine choices in the drop down box. To install our custom search engines, do the following:
Firefox Instructions:
- Open this page using Firefox
- Click on the down arrow next to the the icon in the Integrated Search Box.
- Click on Add EBPL Catalog Search
- Now whenever you want to search the catalog, all you have to do is type your search terms in the box.
Internet Explorer 7.0 instructions
- When you visit this page using Internet Explorer (version 7.0), the arrow next to the spyclass next to the Integrated Search Box in the upper right hand corner will turn orange.
- Click on the down arrow.
- Go to Add Search Providers
- Click on EBPL Catalog Search
- Internet Explorer will prompt you to add our catalog search to the search toolbar.
- You may also make the library catalog search your default search engine by clicking on the checkbox next to Make this my default search provider.
- Then click Add Provider.
- If you have elected to make the library catalog your default search provider you may just starting typing in your catalog search in the box and hit <ENTER> when you are finished.
- The results of your catalog search will then display on your browser screen.
- If you have not elected to make our search your default, you will need to manually select EBPL Catalog Search from the drop down list of search engine choices before trying to search our catalog.
