Do you use Amazon.com to locate books?
Do you wish you could easily find out if the Library owns a book you have found?

Now you can!
The Library Extension Amazon Catalog Lookup tool displays information about the Library status of books you find in Amazon, right on the Amazon results page. Just click on the link on the Amazon page and you will see if a title is available locally.

In order to use The Library Extension tool you must use the Google Chrome browser!

Just install, choose your library and browse!

Installation

  1. Open the Google Chrome browser
  2. Go to LibraryExtension.com
  3. Click on the Install Library Extension from Chrome Web Store button.
  4. Click on the Add button in the Add to Chrome popup that opens.

  6. A popup will appear in the top right corner of your browser stating that an Library Extenion has been added and is enabled. (Clicking on the Library Extension link will take you to the Chrome store and provide you with an overview, details and review for Library Extension.)

Set up the Extension for East Brunswick Public Library in Amazon

  1. Go to Amazon.com and search for a title.
  2. Click on a result in the list. In the top right corner of the Amazon screen you will see an image from Library extension. It tells you to click on the books icon in the address bar to set up your library preferences.
  3. Click on the icon
  4. A popup opens
  5. Choose New Jersey and then East Brunswick Public Library.

  7. Hit the + sign to add East Brunswick Public Library to the list below where the libraries that you selected display. Note that you can select for eBooks as well as books in print.

  9. Click Close to finish selecting your libraries.

Using Library Extension

  1. Search for a title in Amazon.com and bring up a title result.
  2. The Library Extension box will appear on the top right side of the browser screen.
  3. Click on the Reserve your Copy button. You will be taken to the library catalog.
  4. Log in to your library card account and place a hold request on the title.
  5. If the title is available, your title will be pulled and waiting for you.

Add Yourself to the Waitlist

If Library Extension shows that the library owns the title that you searched for but that all copies are out.

  1. imageClick on the Add yourself to the waitlist button.

Hint for better results

Note the hints on each button. Change your format on the Amazon results page from Hardcover to Paperback or Paperback to eBook in order to see if it is available is an alternate format.
