Najma Akhtar, International Performer on EBTV
Indian performer, Najma Akhtar is renowned for the blend of East meets west, modern jazz with Indian vocals. Born and brought up in England - and a graduate in Chemical Engineering - Najma has proved to be a successful and versatile artist. She has produced six albums of her own work and has had artistic collaborations with some of the world's most influential musicians, including Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. Library Board member and Rutgers Professor, Angus Kress Gillespie speaks with Najma about an upcoming May 3 appearance with guitarist Gary Lucas at Joe's Pub in NYC. Watch for the interview, with footage of past performances, Mondays at 12:30 p.m., Thursdays at 7 p.m., and Saturdays at 11:30 a.m.
