Volunteering at the Library :: Click to see a larger version

Volunteering at the library can be a rewarding experience. The library's volunteer coordinator matches volunteers to jobs and special projects available. Individuals interested in volunteering may pick up an application in the Administration office, at the Information Services desk, or click on the form on the right. (Adobe Reader required to open the PDF file.)

Volunteer opportunities include the following:

Adopt-a-shelf

A program for volunteers willing to give one hour a week to maintain a section of the library's collection.

Become a Tutor

Help an adult learner to read or speak English. Literacy Volunteer tutors meet their students at the library every week for two hours. For more information call 732-432-8000 or go to Literacy Volunteers of Middlesex.

Books To Keep

Books To Keep is a program of the public libraries of Middlesex County through which new books are distributed as gifts to disadvantaged children during the holiday season each year. The library supports Books To Keep by collecting donations of new children's books from library users in November and December.

Homebound Service

Select and deliver materials to residents of East Brunswick who are permanently unable to visit the library. Delivery of library materials is made biweekly. This program is shared with the Department of Aging. For information contact the Adult Services Department at (732) 390-6772.

Join the Friends

Those wishing to volunteer at the library can also join our very vibrant and active Friends of The Library group. Whether its working at our Annual Bargain Book and Media Sale or working on a committee planning trips or programs, the Friends can always use your help.

Teen Volunteering

The library is a great place for teenagers to volunteer their special talents. Opportunities to make a difference include the Teen Library Connection ( TLC) program in the summer, the Reading Buddies program, the Teen Advisory Board (TAB), as well as the library's participation in Project Linus. See our Volunteer Opportunities for Teens page for additional information on each program.
