Additional Searches
Contains... used for words appearing anywhere in the title, subject, series, genre and author searches.

Contains... Searches
- Click with your mouse in a box to the right of the way you want to search
- by keyword anywhere in the record,
- any author or name,
- keywords anywhere in the title, subject...
- Type in your search term e.g. author - last name/title - any unique words...
To search using multiple terms, click with your mouse in a second box and type in your search term. E.g. author - last name/ title - any unique words...
You can also refine your search by selecting from a term by selecting from a Limit or Sort option below.
- Click on one of the options in the Limit box to restrict your search. e.g. select DVDs to limit your search to items in The Library's DVD collection.
- Click on one of the options in the Sort box to determine an alphabetic/date sort of authors and titles/publication dates or type of item.
- Hit <Enter> or click with your mouse on the Go button when you have entered all of your terms.
You will see a list of all the items in the catalog that contain your search term(s).
Advanced Searches
Click with your mouse on the down arrow in the top box and click on the type of search that you want. Enter your search term in the box to the right. See below- Enter an additional search term(s) in the following boxes, choosing your search type by clicking on the down arrow.
- Connect your search terms by clicking on the the down arrow in the right most box and choosing from the And, Or, Not, Xor options.
- And means that the terms in all boxes must appear in the result.
- Or means that any of the terms in the boxes must appear in the result.
- Not means that the term in the box must not appear in the result.
- Xor means that the terms in one box must appear in the result exactly.
You can further refine your search by selecting from a term by selecting from a Limit or Sort option below.
- Click on one of the options in the Limit box to restrict your search. e.g. select DVDs to limit your search to items in The Library's DVD collection.
- Click on one of the options in the Sort box to determine an alphabetic/date sort of authors and titles/publication dates or type of item. -- Useful for long lists of items
- Hit <Enter> or click with your mouse on the Go button when you have entered all of your terms.
DVDs, Music & Audiobooks
| DVDs, Music & Audiobooks - Use these specialized search options to limit each of your searches to DVDs, music and audiobooks that the library owns. |
- Click with your mouse on the tab to select searching DVDs, music or audiobooks.
- Click with your mouse in a box to the right of the way you want to search
- by keyword in the title,
- any actor/performer, director, writer, producer, composer, or narrator,
- keywords anywhere in the subject...
- Type in your search term e.g. author - last name/title - any unique words...

Limit Your Contains..., Advanced, DVD, Music & Audiobooks Searches by Language
You may now limit your searches to library materials that are in Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Russian and Spanish when searching using the Contains..., Advanced, DVD, Music & Audiobooks screens.
- Just type in your keyword(s) ( any word that is in the title, author, performer, subject...) as described in the Additional Searches section above.
- Scroll down the page a little further until you see Refine your search.
- Then click with your mouse to select a language in the Limit by Language box.
(The image to the right describes how to look for books on citizenship in Spanish in a Contains... search:)
(Note that you must use the scroll bar in the Limit by Language box in order to be able to see the word Spanish. )
- Then click on the Go button .

The results page will display all of the titles in the Catalog that are written in Spanish and contain the word citizenship.
Multilingual Searching
You can now search for items in the library's catalog by entering the actual language of the item rather than the transliterated terms. This functionality is available for the following languages:
- Chinese (Simplified and Traditional)
- Arabic
- Russian
- Korean
This feature is ONLY AVAILABLE FOR SELECTED NEW ITEMS in the Russian, Arabic, Chinese and Korean collections. The Library will continue to add information in the original languages as it becomes available.
Best Sellers and New Arrivals
| Best Sellers and New Arrivals use to search for items listed in our Best Seller lists such as New York Times Best Sellers, Oprah's Book Club Selections,... as well as new books and books on order. |
Click on Best Sellers and New Arrivals on the blue bar across the top of the screen.- Click with your mouse on the list that you would like to see.
- You will see a list of all the items in the catalog that are in that list.
- Click on the item in the list that you would like to see.
To move between the lists, click on Next 10 Best Seller List or Prev 10 Bet Seller List on the right side of the page.
My Searches
My Searches allows you to find a search that you have done earlier in your searching session and rerun it.
Click on the search word to rerun the exact search
Click on edit on the right side of the screen to modify the search.
Community Information

The Community Information tab allows you to search the library's Clubs & Organizations database and Newspaper Index.
Clubs and Organizations
Search The Library's database of local/New Jersey clubs and organizations containing contact and meeting information, links to web sites and more.
- Enter either a keyword or an organization subject in the correct box and hit <Enter> or click on the Go button.
- Click on the name of the organization to see more detailed information about it on the next screen.
Newspaper Index
Search an index to citations for articles from the Home News Tribune and the Sentinel from 1995 to August 2004 for articles about East Brunswick subjects or persons.
- Enter either a keyword or a newspaper subject in the correct box and hit <Enter> or click on the Go button.
- The Search Results screen will display an alphabetical list of all of the results that contain your search term(s).
- Click on an entry to see detailed information about it.
