6 Must-see Events for the Library’s 50th Anniversary

This Sunday marks the 50th Anniversary of the opening of the East Brunswick Public Library.  Come join us for a month’s worth of intriguing programs and events.  A special kick-off ceremony starts the festivities, and to mark the occasion we’ll be celebrating with birthday cake, prizes, and giveaways throughout the day.  Now, on to those events:

Author Visit with Stephanie Evanovich
Sunday, May 7, 2 pm
Join New York Times bestseller Stephanie Evanovich at a special author program. She will be discussing her three novels Big Girl Panties, The Sweet Spot and The Total Package, answering your questions, signing books and much more! As a special gift, fifty lucky attendees will receive a copy of The Total Package!  You’re more than welcome to check out all three books, which are available through the library’s catalog.
Library Petting Zoo
Sunday, May 7, 1 pm
 Green Meadows Farm is bringing their big and little critters petting zoo, giving you the chance to befriend all animals, big and small. This special activity for children and their families, you can meet some amazing creatures. You can get up close and personal with chickens, ducks, geese, bunnies, lambs, goats, a calf, llamas, a turkey and even an alpaca!
The Secrets of Star Wars
Saturday, May 13, 12 pm
Join Jason Fry for an inside peek at some of the more than 40 Star Wars books and short stories he's written, and learn some of Jason's secrets for turning ideas, experiences and things you love into stories. Jason will also talk about his book series Jupiter Pirates! Following the program, Jason's books will be available for purchase and a book signing.
Explore Local History with Mark Nonestied
Monday, May 15, 7pm
Once an agrarian neighborhood, East Brunswick's transition to a multicultural suburban town has a rich backstory. Mark Nonestied is the author of East Brunswick: Images of America, a local history book that details the town's transformation through intriguing photographs.
Golden Girls Trivia
Wednesday, May 17, 7 pm
While the library does host a trivia night every month, this one will prove to be quite special, focusing on a single topic throughout the night.  This month's theme is Golden Girls, the legendary 1980s sitcom! There will be cheesecake, prizes and plenty of St. Olaf stories!
Retro Roadmap
Thursday, June 2, 7 pm
Beth Lennon--writer and blogger behind Retro Roadmap--makes it easy for you to find cool vintage places - (grand)mom & (grand)pop places that have stood the test of time while still retaining their authentic charm. Join us for some retro fun as we look at some great places you can visit!
