This public library in Indiana contains one of the premier genealogy collections in the nation. In addition to its natural emphasis on Midwest and Indiana genealogy, the library collects worldwide genealogical materials extensively.

Daughters of the American Revolution Library

The DAR library in Washington D.C. houses one of the foremost genealogical collections in the country. It contains more than 160,000 books on American genealogy and local history, 60,000 microforms of census, military, land records, and much more. Morristown and Morris Township Library

Discover the genealogical resources available in the Local History and Genealogy Department of this fine New Jersey library. The library maintains an extensive collection of genealogical materials with emphasis on Morristown, Morris Township, Morris County and New Jersey areas.

National Archives and Records Administration

The NARA oversees the management of all our nation's Federal records and they are required to ensure ready access to those records. Examples of the materials that they preserve and provide access to include federal census records, military records, and immigration and naturalization records. All of these primary source materials are of vital interest and importance to genealogists.

New Jersey Division of Archives & Records Management

This facility is the repository of all of New Jersey's official public documents. This includes "all New Jersey colonial and state government records of enduring historical value." In addition to public papers and state records, this includes birth, death and marriage records from 1848 - mid 20th century, New Jersey wills, census records, military records and more.

New Jersey Historical Society

Located at 52 Park Place in Newark, the Historical Society has been collecting New Jersey historical materials since the mid 1800s. The Library has a very well known and respected collection of New Jersey local history and family history materials, in addition to vertical files, periodicals, genealogical charts, city directories, Census records, manuscript collections, and other materials. Use this site to determine if the Society might be the holder of the information for which you are searching. Hours of operation are limited, so check the site for exact information.

New Jersey State Library

This is a great starting point to begin your NJ research. Besides housing an excellent genealogy collection, the library provides this site to highlight the resources available to the NJ genealogical researcher.

New York Public Library

The genealogical collection at the NYPL is a major resource for researchers. Access their Genealogical Research at the New York Public Library page to check out their hours of operation, access their online catalog, and to discover the wealth of their genealogy collection, including a treasure trove of primary source materials that they make available to you.

NYC Municipal Archives

The NYC Municipal Archives is the official depository for all official reports and studies published by New York City. It has records of births reported in the five Boroughs of New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and Staten Island), prior to 1910; deaths reported prior to 1949, and marriages reported prior to 1930.

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey Special Collections and University Archives

The University Special Collections division contains an extremely rich source of family history materials for New Jersey researchers. The bulk of the materials comes from the collections donated by the Genealogical Society of New Jersey and the Daughters of the American Revolution. The Library also publishes an extensive guide to the Genealogy Resources: Archibald S. Alexander Library, Rutgers, the State University.
