Come See the Hindi Film "White Elephant"

Come See the Hindi Film
"White Elephant" tells the story of a village's holy elephant and the unusual pick it makes for a new keeper. Thursday, Nov. 3, 7 p.m.

Enjoy a showing of the family-friendly film “White Elephant, directed by Aliaz Khan. The film is about “Nathan,” the holy elephant of a village. Watch as Nathan chooses a worthless drunk as his new keeper on the day of the sacred festival and the life-altering effects of this act.  For the new keeper, it was a matter of fortune and honor but for others, it was a matter of envy.  The immediate change in fortune was initially too much for the new keeper to handle, but his newly-found resolve and the holy elephant’s allure enable him to face adversity and also defeat the evil powers of the envious villagers.  This is a story about the strength of faith and the impact of believing. The film will be shown in Hindi with English subtitles. Adults; tweens and teens are invited with a parent to this free viewing. The film is sponsored by the East Brunswick Human Relations Council and the Library.
