Take part in the Friends of the East Brunswick Public Library Community Yard Sale
Saturday, June 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hammarskjold Middle School Sign Up for a Spot Now!

Clean out your house and make some cash for the summer at the largest Community Yard Sale in the area. Sign up now to sell at the Friends of the East Brunswick Library Community Yard Sale on Saturday, June 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hammarskjold Middle School, 200 Rues Lane, East Brunswick. Double parking spaces will be $25. Sellers will be allowed to set up at 8 a.m. Additional parking spaces are available for $15. We have a limited number of spots available, so register now. Refreshments will be for sale and indoor restrooms will be available. Registration must be received by Monday, June 14. Make checks payable to the EB Friends of the Library. The rain date will be Saturday, June 26.

Your items cannot be checked in or renewed on those days because The Library is changing computer systems. Fines will not be charged on these days.

The library catalog will be available only for searching on Monday and Tuesday April 26th and 27th.  You will not be able to place requests or renew any items via the library catalog on these days. 

  The library catalog will not be available on Wednesday, April 28th.  Please call Information Services at 732-390-6767 or Youth Services at 732-390-6789 for assistance in determining if the library has the book, DVD, CD or videogame that you want.  

 

 The new library catalog will be available beginning April 29th.    All holds, suspended holds and lists will be transferred to the new library catalog.

Limited tickets at $15 each will be on sale at Circulation. Please enter through the side door of The Library on the night of the event. (Event resecheduled from Feb.6.)

 

Learn the tango and other dance favorites during Tango & Chocolate at the East Brunswick Public Library on Saturday, June 5, from 7 to 10 p.m. You’ll feel like a contestant on Dancing With the Stars when you meet with instructors from Dance Time Productions for a delightful evening of dance instruction. There will be lots of fun and an assortment of delectable desserts including, of course, chocolate.  A limited number of tickets are on sale at the Circulation Desk for $15 beginning May 3. Friends of the Library members are eligible for door prizes. Please enter through the side door of The Library. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
 

Songs of the Wandering People: The Music of the European Roma (Gypsies)

Enjoy the sophisticated melodies of Roma music during “Songs of the Wandering People,” at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 2, at the East Brunswick Public Library. Join Gypsy duo Milena Dawidowicz and Elena Panova as they present a variety of music from Hungary, Romania, Russia, Bulgaria and more. You also will enjoy music from Eastern European countries as well as traditional songs based on Gypsy folklore during this exciting event. Rescheduled from Saturday, April 24. Golf Fitness- Exercise to Improve your Swing!

A great golf swing involves flexibility, balance and timing. You can improve the efficiency of your swing and prevent injuries with stretching and strengthening exercises that are specific to golf.

 

With spring nearly here and summer just around the corner, it might be time to get the rust off and work on your golf swing. Come by the East Brunswick Public Library for Golf Fitness: Exercises to Improve Your Swing on Monday, April 19, at 7:30 p.m. and get professional help from Dr. Joel Schwartz. A chiropractor and Therapeutic Exercise Specialist, Dr. Schwartz will explain how to improve the efficiency of your swing and prevent injuries with stretching and strengthening exercises that are specific to golf. Adults only. Sponsored by the Department on Aging and The Library’s Infolink contract.

Erase points and save money on insurance! NJ-Approved class taught by experienced police detective/accident investigator.

Come register for the popular Defensive Driving Course, sponsored by the Friends of the Library. The two-day course will be held on Monday, April 26, and Tuesday, April 27, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the East Brunswick Public Library. Registration is required and seating is limited to 30 people. 

Eligible motorists can erase two points from their driver’s license and/or get a five percent discount on a portion of their auto insurance. Participants must attend two consecutive evenings for credit. Course costs vary according to goal: for a 2 point reduction on your license, $65, for an insurance discount, $55.  For both, the cost is $65. Attendance is mandatory and refunds cannot be given for partial attendance. Applications are available at the Circulation desk or online.
Approved by the State of New Jersey, the course is taught by an experienced police detective-accident investigator. No vehicle is needed, as it is conducted in a classroom setting with multimedia aids. For more information call 732-257-2967 or e-mail fixaticket@aol.com

Come to everyone's favorite "Antiques Road Show" and learn how to get the best price for your collectibles. Attendance is free, but for those wanting appraisals for their items, tickets are $5 and include having two items (no weapons, please) appraised by professional appraiser Joseph Bodnar and colleagues. Tickets are on sale April 19th. Only 100 tickets are available and they always sell out fast!

Register for computer training for April Classes

Sign up now for the East Brunswick Public Library’s latest computer class offerings. April promises a little something for everyone as we go back to the basics with a number of introductory classes. If you have mastered those, choose from several Microsoft Office advanced classes. Classes are two hours long and limited to 12 students per class.

Classes for April include:

Registration is required. There is a $5 fee for cardholders and a $10 fee for non-cardholders. Fees will be added to a cardholder’s account and paid for at the Circulation desk. Non-cardholders must pay at the time of registration. Register at the Library or by visiting www.ebpl.org and clicking on “News & Events.”
