Rainbow Reads Book Club @ the Pride Center

May 18 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm

Rainbow Reads - LGBTQ+ book club collaboration with the Pride Center of NJ and the Highland Park Library. This group meets the 3rd Monday of the month at 7pm at the Pride Center of NJ. Address is 85 Raritan Avenue (Suite #100), Highland Park, NJ

Next Meeting - May 18th at 7pm. We are reading the novel, What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher. Reserve a copy of the book here.

What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher is a creepy, modern retelling of Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Fall of the House of Usher.” It follows Alex Easton, a retired soldier who goes back to visit an old friend, Madeline Usher, and quickly realizes something is seriously wrong at her family’s estate. The place feels off—there are strange fungi growing everywhere, animals acting unnaturally, and a sense of decay hanging over everything. The story mixes eerie horror with a bit of dark humor, making it both unsettling and engaging in a really natural, readable way.

Join the Rainbow Reads book group for lively discussions centered on books by queer and trans authors, or stories that highlight LGBTQ+ characters and themes. While our focus is on LGBTQ+ literature, readers of all identities are welcome to take part in thoughtful, respectful, and engaging conversations.
