Health & Safety
The Center for Disease Control's homepage contains detailed information on specific destinations for travelers. It also includes reference materials from the CDC, information on outbreaks of concern to international travelers, traveling with children, information for travelers with special needs such as disabilities, pregnancy, and HIV, CDC's vaccination recommendations for travelers of all ages, information about specific diseases, and how to avoid illness from food or water
Travel warnings are issued when the State Department decides to recommend that Americans avoid travel to a certain country. Consular Information Sheets are available for every country of the world. They include such information as the location of the U.S. Embassy or Consulate, health conditions, minor political disturbances, crime and security information, and drug penalties. The site also includes Public Announcements, which provide information about terrorist threats and other relatively short-term and/or transnational conditions that pose significant risks to the security of American travelers.
