Andy Rothstein Quintet to Perform Pure Instrumental Jazz-Fusion Magic at The Library

Posted June 30, 2008

Music will be performed from Andy’s debut progressive jazz/rock fusion CD “Voodoo Tone” as well as well-known Jazz standards and covers
Music will perfume the sultry summer evening with pure instrumental jazz-fusion magic when the Andy Rothstein Quintet takes the stage at the East Brunswick Library on Saturday, July 12 at 7:30pm. This event is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
Mr. Rothstein, a guitarist extraordinaire in his own right, counts Pat Martino, Wes Montgomery, Pat Metheny, John Coltrane and Stevie Ray Vaughn as his short list of influences, and has studied under Kevin Eubanks, Ted Dunbar and Steve Khan. Rounding out Andy’s quintet will be: Steve Jankowski, trumpet; Tony Senatore, bass; Luther Rix, drums; and Bill Harris, saxophone. These professional, high caliber musicians currently perform with or have performed with Blood, Sweat & Tears, Chicago and Bette Midler.

Andy’s debut progressive jazz/rock fusion CD, Voodoo Tone, contains his original compositions and a cover of “Giant Steps” by jazz great John Coltrane. Rothstein states “one of my main goals with this record was to keep things pure and simple, and to capture the essence, mojo, musical interplay and honesty of a live performance.” Robert Silverstein of 20th Century Guitar Magazine says "For fans of Jazz/Rock Fusion there is plenty of superb guitar work on Voodoo Tone to make it well worth your while."

The Voodoo Tone CD will be available for purchase at the performance, and is also available through andyrothstein.com and as individual song downloads at ITunes.  For more information, please call 732-390-6767.

The Library Hosts Historically Accurate Scale Ship Modeling Lecture and Demonstration

The Library Hosts Historically Accurate Scale Ship Modeling Lecture and Demonstration

Posted June 13, 2008

The Ship Model Society of New Jersey will also display their ship models in the Library’s showcases during the entire month of June.
Did you ever wonder how those model ships are built with such exacting detail? Learn about this decorative art form at the East Brunswick Public Library on Monday, June 25 at 7:00 p.m. when the Ship Model Society of New Jersey will be here to give a lecture and demonstration on historically accurate, scale ship modeling. Everyone is welcome.

Ship models or model ships are scale representations of ships. They can range in size from 1/6000 scale miniatures to large vessels capable of holding people. Ship modeling is a craft as old as shipbuilding itself, stretching back to ancient times when water transport was first developed.

The models, all very intricate and built with painstaking detail to the originals, will be available for viewing during the entire month of June in the Library’s showcases located throughout the building. The exhibit features many different styles of model ships, as well as background information about the model and the original it is based on.

For more information, please call 732-390-6767.
