Find Out What Its Like to Save a Life
EBTV to televise special program "EMS Volunteers" throughout the month of September
As a public service, EBTV-Channel 3 will televise “EMS Volunteers,” a fifteen minute video promoting volunteer Emergency Medical Services.
EMS Volunteers video contains dramatized recreations of rescue scenes and compelling interviews from actual rescue squad members. Hear from volunteers who give first-hand accounts of their experiences, why they volunteer, how they initially got involved, what they get out of the volunteer experience, and much, much more. For viewers that aren’t exposed to emergency situations on a day-to-day basis, this video will be an eye-opening learning experience that won’t soon be forgotten.
The September airing schedule is as follows:
Tuesdays: 7:30 am and 6:30 pm
Wednesdays: 8:00 am and 5:00 pm
Thursdays: 8:00 pm (except September 18)
Sundays: Noon
This video was produced by the NJ State First Aid Council, the NJ Department of Health & Senior Services, office of EMS, and NJN Media Productions. Distribution is by JAG (the Jersey Access Group).

Windows Vista and Staying Virus Free Seminar Offered on September 11th and again on the 18th at the East Brunswick Library
Do you feel like a hostage to your computer? Robin Kessler will be offering a seminar on the new Windows Vista System and how to keep your computer safe from viruses, spyware and malware at the Library on Thursday, September 11 at 7pm. and again on Thursday, September 18 at 1pm. This event is free and everyone is welcome to attend. Pre-registration is required.
Robin will also be raffling off copies of a fully-licensed anti-spyware program during each session of the seminar.

Family Entertainer Miss Amy to Rock The Library on August 28th
Lively singer/songwriter fosters children’s imaginations through her music
Get ready to rock out to some fitness rock & roll! Miss Amy will perform at the East Brunswick Library on Thursday, August 28th at 11am. This event is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
Miss Amy is a spirited and lively singer/songwriter who has won wide acclaim for family entertainment by fostering children’s imaginations through her music. Delighting multitudes of children and parents with her live shows, she has appeared at numerous live venues as well as on Radio and TV. Being a certified fitness instructor for many years (AAAI/ISMA Primary Aerobic, Pre/Post-Natal, Yoga and Tai Chi), along with being a family entertainer with four GRAMMY® submitted CDs, Miss Amy has captivated audiences with her original songs that include movements from actual health & fitness disciplines. Banjo Rascals Come to the Library on August 23
From ragtime, to swing to Dixieland and rock, these band of entertainers provide a delightful, distinctive, musical experience

Chinese-Language Book Donation Ceremony to be held on August 17th
Buddhist organization Tzu Chi has donated 25 books to the Library’s World Language section
Buddhist organization Tzu Chi has kindly donated 25 Chinese-language books to the Library’s world language section. The book donation ceremony will be held at the Library on Sunday, August 17th at 2pm. Refreshments will be served. This event is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
The donation ceremony will immediately be followed by a classical music piano recital given by local East Brunswick students Kevin Cheng, Jessica Cheng, Steve Kuei and Brook Kuei.
Tzu Chi Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 1966. A volunteer-based, spiritual as well as welfare organization, Tzu Chi’s missions focus on giving material aid and inspiring love and humanity in both the givers and receivers. Since its founding, the Foundation has dedicated itself in the field of charity, medicine, education, environmental protection, as well as the promotion of humanistic values and community volunteerism.

Register Now for a Defensive Driving Course to be held on September 3 and 4
Participating motorists can be eligible for a 2-point reduction and/or 5% insurance discount
Registration begins now for the ever-popular Defensive Driving Course, sponsored by the Friends of the Library. This two-day course runs on September 3 and 4 from 6:30-10 pm. Registration is required and seating is limited to 30 people. Applications are available at the Circulation desk or online, and are due by August 30. Acceptance is first come by postmark. Fees range from $55-$65, depending on one’s goals.
Eligible motorists can erase two points from their driver’s license and/or get a five percent discount on a portion of their auto insurance. Attendance is mandatory on both nights to receive credit. Refunds cannot be given for partial attendance. See the registration form for additional details.
Approved by the state of New Jersey, this course is taught by an experienced police detective-accident investigator. No vehicle is needed, as it is conducted entirely in a classroom setting with multimedia aids.
