Find a Bargain and Help the Friends
The Friends Annual Community Yard Sale is Saturday, May 14. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Registrations will still be accepted through May 12th.
Find a bargain or a hidden treasure at the Friends’ Community Yard Sale on Saturday, May 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the East Brunswick High School on Cranbury Road. Proceeds raised through the sale of spots for vendors will support wonderful Library programs such as the Teen Learning Connection, the annual puppetry festival, film festivals, the book club, music and dance programs and so much more. In additon, parking spots are still available for those of you who wish to sell at the event. Double parking spaces will be $20. Additional double parking spaces are available for $10. Refunds will be given if the event is canceled. Food and restrooms will be available at the event. Sellers will be allowed to set up at 8 a.m. We have a limited number of spots available, so register now. Registration must be received by Friday, May 6.

March Computer Training at the Library
Sign up now for the East Brunswick Public Library’s latest computer class offerings. This month’s courses include three new courses, Introduction to QuickBooks, Level 1, Excel III and Picture Perfect.

Register now for the East Brunswick Public Library’s latest computer class offerings. The March schedule offers something for everyone with a repeat of basic courses, PC Literacy I and II and two newer courses: Excel III and Picture Perfect, as well as our popular class on Downloading eBooks.
Introduction to QuickBooks, Level 1
An introduction to the popular small business financial software. This class is designed for individuals who are just starting out with QuickBooks and have a working knowledge of the Windows environment. This first class of a multipart series will introduce users to the interface, show how to set up your company’s QuickBooks, and how to begin to add and work with customers, vendors, accounts and inventory. The course fee is $50. Advance registration and prepayment is required. See the event in the calendar for the specifics on registration and cancellation. Registration is limited to 8 participants.
Excel III :
Continue advancing your intermediate skills in Excel. Learn how to use the data tab to import data, do more work with formulas, create simple macros for repetitive tasks and explore more of the page layout options. As time permits, students will also explore Excel templates and conditional formatting in Excel 2010.
Prerequisite: Excel II or equivalent Excel experience.
Picture Perfect
Don’t know what to do with the pictures from your digital camera? Explore some of the free online photo editing and management websites that allow you to accomplish many of your photo editing needs fast and, of course, for free. Learn how to remove red-eye, crop, resize, add special effects, share and create online photo books. This session will demonstrate the features available at Shutterfly.com.
Prerequisites: Internet II or basic Internet navigation experience. By signing up you are certifying that you have the basic skills required to complete this class.
Requirements: Attendees need to have a valid email account in order to set up their Shutterfly accounts. They also need to bring some photographs in digital format (on their camera, CD or flash drive) to upload to their new accounts.
Search, Checkout and Download: Downloading Audiobooks and eBooks
People who like to read on the go might want to check out our class on how to download eBooks and Audiobooks. Learn how to download free books from The Library’s growing collection and other free resources to your Barnes & Noble Nook, Sony Reader, iPhone, iPad, Blackberry and Droid phone. Please note that the Kindle ereader is not compatible with library ebooks due to the manufacturer’s restrictions.

- Introduction to PowerPoint, Thursday, Mar 17 at 7 p.m.;
- Excel II on Saturday, Mar 19 at 9:30 a..m.;
- Microsoft Word II, Thursday, Mar 31 at 7 p.m.;
- Excel III on Saturday, Mar 26 at 9:30 a.m.;
- PC Literacy II, Wednesday, Mar 30 at 2 p.m. and
- Microsoft Word III, on Thursday, Apr 7at 7 p.m.
All courses are offered using the latest Microsoft software - Windows 7 and Office 2010.
Registration is required. All registrants should look at the class offerings carefully to insure that they have the necessary skills for each class. Classes are two hours long and limited to 12 students per class.
Fees
There is a $5 fee for cardholders and a $10 fee for non-cardholders. Fees will be added to a cardholder’s account and paid for at the Circulation desk. [This does not apply to the QuickBooks class. See the event in the calendar for details.]

Volunteers needed for book sale
The Friends of the Library need volunteers to help sell, set up and clean up at its upcoming Book & Media Sale.
The Friends of the East Brunswick Public Library needs your help!
Volunteers are needed to help with The Friends’ Bargain Book and Media Sale to be held at the East Brunswick Square Mall from Monday, March 21, to Sunday, March 27.
This is The Friends’ biggest event of the year and the most popular book sale in Central New Jersey. We need you to help keep it running smoothly by volunteering to help throughout the week, or to set up or clean up.
Customers get to choose from thousands of books, including popular fiction, mysteries, science, health and more, all in hardcover, paperback or on CD. Music CDs, video games, DVDs and videos also will be for sale!
The sale will be held at the Brunswick Square Mall on Route 18 at the JC Penny Court. Mall hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Defensive Driving Applications Available Now!
Monday, February 28th & Tuesday, March 1st from 6:30 P.M. to 10 P.M.

Come register for the popular Defensive Driving Course, sponsored by the Friends of the Library. The two-day course will be held on Monday, February 28th & Tuesday, March 1st, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the East Brunswick Public Library. Registration is required and seating is limited to 30 people.
