Eating Disorders and Body Hatred Workshop on December 2
On Wednesday, December 2nd at 7 p.m. Susan Gutwill, MS, LCSW will present a workshop on eating disorders and body hatred in women and children at the East Brunswick Public Library. The medical disorders of obesity, anorexia, and bulimia are a social problem. These symptoms of the fear of fat and body image are linked to the advertising and diet industries.
Women and children suffer the most from this diet mentality, which becomes a pervasive part of their daily routine. Dieting can lead to the habit of binging, as well as ignoring the physiological signals of hunger and satiation.
This workshop will help you and your family:
- Identify hunger and satiation
- Recognize emotional history, which fuel the disorders
- Learn to care for health by acknowledging limitations without the stigma of the disorder
Susan Gutwill, MS, LCSW is an author and faculty member at the Center for the Study of Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis of NJ. She has over thirty years of experience in the field of eating disorders and body image distortions.
This program is sponsored by the Just for the Health of It Initiative at the East Brunswick Public Library
