The East Brunswick Friends of the Library will be hosting a family portrait fundraiser with a professional photographer on Wednesday, July 15 (rain date, Thursday, July 16) from 4 pm to 7 pm at the East Brunswick Municipal Pond (1 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive). /userfiles/files/candy-vs-medicine.pdf
The cost for the session is $30 and includes 2 poses and 2 edited digital images sent to you via email after your session. If you are interested in participating in this event, please e-mail our photographer at mmolfetto@optonline.net and he will contact you regarding an appointment time.
Coding Club for Kids
Our summer coding club is back! Click here for more information.
Our summer coding club is using the CS0 program (40 hours in 16 lessons) designed by the CS Academy of Carnegie Mellon University. This is a top-ranked Computer Science school. The goal of the CS academy is to help children become more familiar with computer science, bridging the gap with an engaging graphics package that allows for creativity while students write text-based code in Python.
The online program series is for middle school students. The first online session is on July 1, 2020, at 2:00 pm. For details and registration, please email Sally Leung.

Juneteenth (June 19)
There is another date that's viewed as Independence Day—Juneteenth. Two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, news arrived in Texas that all slaves were to be set free. The official date, June 19 is known as Juneteenth. In the spirit of Juneteenth, there are some excellent online resources to help spread the message of racial equality and provide information about the legacy of slavery.

Take A Business Break With The East Brunswick Public Library
East Brunswick Public Library is launching the Take A Business Break Series of online programs on Thursdays afternoons. More Info
The goal is to provide small business owners to get tips from experts during their lunch break.
The first program, “PPP Loan Forgiveness and Tax Provisions for Small Businesses,” is on Thursday, June 11 at 12:00 pm. The Small Business Administration’s PPP Loan program will be explained, as well as exploring the forgiveness calculations. Other topics covered include tax provisions that small businesses can use to raise funds and increase liquidity, the employee retention tax credit, the employer payroll tax deferral provision, and the qualified paid leave provisions.
“PPP Loan Forgiveness and Tax Provisions for Small Businesses” is presented by Daniel Mayo and Edward Mendlowitz.
Daniel Mayo, JD, LLM is a principal at WithumSmith+Brown, PC and National Lead, Federal Tax Policy and also specializes in international and cross border transactions and M&A. He is a frequent speaker to accounting and legal groups and is on the adjunct faculty at Georgetown University Law Center and is a member of the American and New York Bar Associations. He is also an approved arbitrator for FINRA.
Edward Mendlowitz, CPA, is Emeritus Partner, WithumSmith+Brown, PC and Fairleigh Dickinson MBA professor. Designated one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting by Accounting Today.
Mendlowitz hosts a second program on Thursday, June 25 at 12:00 pm. Titled “SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) Analysis,” the audience will learn how to grow their business by identifying where to channel their time and energy with this self-assessment tool. Specific illustrations will explain each section of the process.

MCFOODS, the Middlesex County Food Bank, is a network of over 130 food pantries, soup kitchens and social service providers. In 2019 we received over 2.2 million pounds of food that was distributed through our partners to food insecure residents including individuals, families, seniors, children, and veterans. During this unprecedented COVID 19 health crisis many more Middlesex County residents need help. MCFOODS Network has been working hard to get food to families in need, but the increased demand is clearing our shelves at an alarming rate. MCFOODS can accept donations of nonperishable foods or uncooked produce as well as personal hygiene items and paper products.
Why do we need your help?
- 79% increase and 100% increase in March and April respectively in the amount of food received and distributed as compared to last year
- 39% increase in the number of pantries in our network accessing our services as compared to this time last year
Canned chicken, meats, and pasta, cereal, macaroni & cheese, low sodium canned vegetables, canned fruits, rice, pasta, dry beans, diapers and wipes, paper products and soap, shampoo & toothpaste.(Canned and packaged goods only, NO glass items.)
