With local gardeners getting ready to start their spring plantings, East Brunswick Public Library (2 Jean Walling Civic Center) and the Friends of the East Brunswick Environmental Commission are excited to open the EB Grow seed library to the public for the 2022 growing season.
EB Grow seed library has introduced residents to gardening, provided education on seed-saving with the Middlesex County Master Gardeners, and encouraged everyone to develop a passion for sustainability.
"We are excited to enter our fourth year of offering seeds and gardening programming for the public," said Melissa Hozik, Adult Programming Librarian and EB Grow's coordinator. "Gardening has continued to grow as a hobby for all ages, and this year's collections have need seeds for those who grow flowers as well as vegetables."
Gardeners can request native pollinator or container-friendly garden salad seed packs online at www.ebpl.org/ebgrow. Both packs in the collection include easy-to-grow seeds that do well in New Jersey's climate.
"You do not have to be a resident of East Brunswick to use the seed library," Hozik added. "We only request that gardeners save seeds from their own crops or donate unused seed packets back to ensure the collection for future gardeners."
