Celebrate our Expanded Hours
We're open until 9 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning Jan. 7. Come celebrate with us at 5 p.m. on the 7th!
The East Brunswick Public Library is delighted to announce the restoration of its Wednesday evening hours. Beginning on Jan. 7, the Library will once again be open until 9 p.m. on Wednesdays. Library Director MaryEllen Firestone made the announcement after the Library Board of Trustees met on Dec. 9.
The Library Board of Trustees has been working steadily to restore the Wednesday evening hours ever since they were cut in March 2010. With the support of Mayor David Stahl and the Township Council, Library Board members have executed a strategic plan that streamlined library operations and staff, resulting in enough savings to make the goal of reopening on Wednesday evenings a reality for 2015.
"The library board is grateful for the support the mayor and council have given to the library during the past several years as we have slowly restored materials and services that were cut during the great recession," said Board President Deborah Cornavaca.
To celebrate the restoration of the evening hours, Library Director MaryEllen Firestone is inviting residents to the library for cookies and festivities on Wednesday, Jan. 7. She said she hopes the event is the first of many times residents will take advantage of the expanded hours.
"By adding 4 more hours to the library's schedule, residents have more opportunities to take advantage of all the wonderful services, materials and programs found at the East Brunswick Public Library," she said.
