Library Board Honors Retiring Board Member Gail Dysleski

On Tuesday evening, March 18th Library Board members, Mayor William Neary,  East Brunswick Council members, NJLA Executive Director Pat Tumulty and New Jersey State Library officials joined together to honor Gail Dysleski, longtime Library Board member who retired from the Board at the end of 2007.

Ms. Dysleski served the residents of East Brunswick as a member of the Library Board from 1988 to 2007.  During her tenure she held the office of Vice President from 1997-1998 and President of the Board from 1999-2002 and again in 2007.  Ms. Dysleski distinguished herself on the local and national level where she served on both the New Jersey Library Trustee Association and the American Libraries Association of Library Trustees and Advocates (ALTA), serving in many capacities over the years.

 Ms. Dysleski will be remembered as a tireless advocate for trustee education, spearheading the efforts to create an annual New Jersey Trustee Institute which educates and informs new library trustees.   Ms. Dysleski received many awards during her tenure, including Libraries of Middlesex Trustee of the Year, New Jersey Library Association Library Trustee Award and the Recognition of Outstanding Women Award.

Ms. Dysleski also served on the Friends of the Library Board from 1982-1988.
