World Beat Duo Virago! to Perform at the Library

Posted June 13, 2008

High-energy acoustic guitar and percussion music with an edgy Afro-Brazilian samba and American Blues flair.
Virago!, the high-energy guitar and percussion duo consisting of musician/composers Amy Schindler and Marie Tashjian, will be performing at the East Brunswick Public Library on Saturday, June 21 at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
The core of their music is an edgy rock sound that pulsates with undercurrents ranging from American blues to Afro-Brazilian samba. Their cover songs include selections by the Indigo Girls, Melissa Etheridge, KT Tunstall, Bruce Springsteen, 4 Non-blondes and Janis Joplin. Virago has a passion for Brazilian music which has inspired them to perform songs in Portuguese and their listeners may hear a passionate rendition of “Vida La Vida” being performed in Spanish. Don’t be surprised if you get a spontaneous samba lesson or the chance to accompany them on percussion!
