Panel of experts to discuss Haiti at EB Library
Learn more about Haiti at the Library
Thursday, March 11th at 7 p.m.
With most of the country devastated by an earthquake in January, now is an excellent time to learn more about Haiti. Come to the Library for Haiti: It’s History and Culture on Thursday, March 11, at 7 p.m. and learn about the traditional beliefs, myths, tales and practices of the Haitian people. This informative panel discussion will be chaired by Professor Angus Kress Gillespie, a folklorist who has researched Haitian culture through scholarship and fieldwork. Keynote speaker Jeff Richter, a retired Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army Reserve, former Haiti Desk officer for the 358th Civil Affairs Brigade, will be a part of an expert panel that also includes the author of “Closure,” Lt. Bill Keegan, P.A.P.D. (Ret.) who recently led a H.E.A.R.T. 9/11 team during the search and rescue operation in Haiti. Come by for an interesting program that will help you better understand this fascinating country. This event is sponsored by the New Jersey-Haiti Partners and the Friends of the Library.
