Library Group Study Rooms Policy
Library Group Study Rooms are intended for student study sessions, collaborative work, and short meetings by informal small groups. They are intended for informal meetings between 2-6 persons at a time. The rooms are not available for commercial purposes, including, but not limited to, the offering or solicitation of goods, services, or memberships unless expressly allowed by the Library Administration.
The person reserving the room must be an East Brunswick or any LMxAC member library card holder in good standing. This person must be age 14 or older and be part of the group using the room. Use of the group study rooms is limited to two hours and may be reserved in advance. A group may only sign up for one session per day. At the end of the session, if no other group has reserved the room, a group may reserve the room for an additional two hour session. Occupancy of the Group Study Room 1 is limited to a maximum of twelve persons. Occupancy for Group Study Rooms 2 and 3 are limited to a maximum of six persons. Additional furniture may not be moved into the room. Room reservations will only be held for 15 minutes, after that time another group may reserve the room.
Groups will adhere to the library Code of Conduct (attached) and keep noise levels consistent with the proper atmosphere of the library at all times. Any materials left in the rooms will be removed to lost and found in the Circulation department.
Users of the group study rooms must clean up after themselves and leave the room in good condition. The person, who reserved the room, is responsible for the orderly conduct of the group and is liable for any damage to library property and/or equipment.
The group study rooms are available during the library's normal operating hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, 1-5:00 p.m., except when the library is closed for "Summer Sundays". The rooms must be vacated 15 minutes before Library closing. The Library reserves the right to allocate a study room for a Library sponsored program or meeting. Failure to abide by Library rules and policies may result in termination of study room privileges.
Denial of Group Study Room Privileges
Groups will be denied the use of a group study room if that use poses a potential disturbance to the normal operation of the Library, e.g., excessive noise, a safety hazard, or a significant security risk. The Library Director or his/her representative may also deny the use of a group study room to groups that violate group study room policies. The Library does not permit any "high-profile" media events, e.g. those which may attract news vans & cameras to the Library building and/or parking lot; such events disturb Library access and environment.
The Library is not responsible for loss or damage of equipment, supplies, materials or any personal property owned by those reserving or using group study rooms at the Library. In addition, the East Brunswick Public Library Board of Trustees, the Township of East Brunswick, its officers, agents and employees are not to be held liable for any and all claims of injuries, including death, damages or loss, which may arise in connection with a group study activity held on Library property.
