Library Features: What's New @ The Library
New East Brunswick Public Library Catalog to Launch July 15th
The East Brunswick Public Library will be launching its new library catalog on Wednesday, July 15th. The library has selected Koha, an open-source integrated library system with the latest in searching technology and new search refining features that will allow you to narrow your search to more easily find what you want.
On July 15th you can connect to the new catalog by going to the library website www.ebpl.org, and clicking on the library catalog link.
The new catalog is easy to use. If offers a basic search for author or keyword word searches and an option to sort your search results by relevancy, popularity, author, title, date or call number. For more control over your search terms, click on the Advanced Search option to limit by multiple keywords in different indexes, by publication date, by type of material and more. In addition, you can narrow your search results using the new faceted search functionality in the Refine Your Search menu on the left side of each page of your search results. An especially nice feature here is the ability to limit your results to currently available (checked-in) items.
The new library catalog contains the book covers, tables of content, summaries, and book reviews that you enjoyed in our old catalog, as well as the fabulous content from LibraryThing, which lists similar items, reviews, and gives you the ability to create and search by tags, and more. You can also create Book, DVD, or Music Lists for yourself or share them with your fellow searchers à la Amazon.
Check back for additional information about the library's new catalog soon.
