Join the Library in "Taking Steps for Literacy"
Support the Literacy Walk on April 25 by joining or contributing to the EBPL "High-Steppers" walking team.
There are adults in our community and throughout New Jersey who lack basic literacy skills in English. Some have finished high school and have held jobs, but still cannot read or write.
“If no parent is left behind, no child is left behind.”
Some speak English as a second language and cannot communicate effectively in English.
The silence of a child’s life when a parent cannot speak English is overwhelming.
You can help provide these motivated adults with the skills to apply for jobs, help their children with their homework, communicate with employers, doctors, customers, and their child’s teachers, etc. ...and discover the joy of reading!
You can help!
Two ways to get involved:
1. Join your Library’s team on the walk as team members. 3-mile walk, rain or shine!
