Posted April 14, 2016

We're announcing our third-annual Record.Play Film Competition and Festival. This year’s competition accepts film submissions from New Jersey residents and students in three categories: youth (12 and under); teens (13 to 18); and adults (19 and older).

"The Record.Play committee chose the themeExplore for 2016 because it can be interpreted in so many ways.  We are very excited to see how New Jersey filmmakers run with it," says Teen Services Librarian Jessica Schneider.

A panel of three judges will select a 1st and 2nd place winners in each age category.   All the films entered must be original work. Entries will be evaluated on how they interpret the theme, visual and audio quality, and editing skills. Films must not exceed 7 minutes in length.  The 1st place  winner of each age group will receive a prize valued at $100 and 2nd place winner of each age group will receive a prize valued at $50.  Additionally, all films will be screened publicly at the 2016Record.Play Film Festival on Thursday, June 30th at 7:00 p.m.

Submissions must be received no later than Sunday, June 5th.  Rules and complete submission guidelines can be found online atwww.ebpl.org/recordplay . Check out the Library's May calendar for upcoming filmmaking events for all ages.
