Library Features: What's New @ The Library
EBPL Offers Cardholders Thousands Of Films And Documentaries Online Through New Kanopy Service
To bolster the selection of online movies, East Brunswick Public Library now offers its customers access to Kanopy, an online streaming services with thousands of classic, international, independent and educational films.
East Brunswick Public Library has been connecting library goers with films, whether it be through screenings at the library, DVDs for customers to check out or most recently through online streaming. To bolster the selection of online movies, East Brunswick Public Library now offers its customers access to Kanopy, an online streaming services with thousands of classic, international, independent and educational films.
Kanopy features over thirty thousand different titles, from award-winning studios like PBS, ABC and NYX Chanel. It also features curated film selections from The Criterion Collection.
“Unlike a service like Netflix—which focuses more on the summer blockbusters—we chose this service because it has an amazing collection of independent and award winning films,” said Stephanie Fillipone, the library’s Adult Services Manager. “Not to mention, Kanopy also has great documentaries, and even classic television and news programs.”
Kanopy can be used on internet connected devices, such as computers, laptops, iPhones, iPads, and Android tablets and smartphones. Users can also watch video from Kanopy on a television using a Roku box or a Chromecast device.
East Brunswick Public Library cardholders can sign up online to create an account. To sign up, users must enter their first and last name, e-mail address and a valid East Brunswick Public Library card. Users can watch up to five titles a month.
Library cardholders can access other streaming content services online from the library here, including eBooks, magazines and audiobooks.
