The Pursuit: 50 Years in the Fight for LGBT Rights is a reflection on the fight for LGBT rights, more than 50 years since protesters gathered in front of Independence Hall and called for an end to discrimination against homosexuals. Contrasting stories from LGBT experiences past and present, a complex and vibrant picture emerges that demonstrates both how far the community has come and how far there is left to go.
The screening with be followed with a discussion led by Dr. Paula Rodriquez Rust.
Dr. Paula Rodriquez Rust is a sociologist specializing in gender diversity and cultural competence. She is the co-chair of the Central New Jersey Gay, Lesbian, Straight and Education Network (GLESN) and currently works independently with organizations around New Jersey to reduce bullying and promote racial, ethnic, and cultural tolerance.
