Plants provide shade, color, texture and even sound to the home landscape. The challenge with plants is determining where the plants should best be located or how they should be combined to enhance the overall impact of the Garden Design. Bruce Crawford, Director of Rutgers Gardens, will focus on the basic concepts of how to place and combine woody and herbaceous plants to create a pleasing, outdoor garden room!

A longtime proponent of unusual and fun plants, Bruce is the Director of Rutgers Gardens, the botanical garden for Rutgers University, and is an adjunct professor in Landscape Architecture at Rutgers University.  Bruce also lectures frequently and has yet to find a plant that he does not like!
