Opera Talk: “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” (the Tales of Hoffmann)
01/30/2020 | 07:00PM - 08:30PM
Meeting Room 3
Take one romantically challenged but poetic young man, his even younger Muse, three female objects of desire, one really creepy villain, add a lot of wine, mix them together.... and what do you get? “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” (the Tales of Hoffmann) by the effervescent Jacques Offenbach! The opera, performed by the Rutgers Opera Theater and the Rutgers Symphony Orchestra, will unspool in 3 acts (with a prologue and an epilogue of course) at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center on Sunday afternoon, February 9, 2020 (2:00 pm). Join Arts Commission member, Joanna Barouch, on Thursday evening, January 30 at 7:00 at the Library to explore this many faceted jewel of the operatic repertoire. This presentation is open to all, and discounted tickets will also be available.
Joanna Barouch is a member of the EB Arts Commission and a retired public school vocal /general music teacher. She taught an opera class for OLLIE-RU and recently completed teaching a course about Leonard Bernstein.
Co-Sponsored by the East Brunswick Arts Commission.
