Concert: American Boychoir

Concert: American Boychoir
Get your free tickets to see a performance by the American Boychoir in December. Sunday, December 8, 2 p.m.

Celebrate the rich 75-year history of America’s premier concert boys’ choir, the American Boychoir, during a free performance at the Library. The Boychoir has long been recognized as one of the finest professional musical ensembles in the country. Among the choir’s credits are appearances with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the New York Philharmonic, the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. They’ve produced more than 45 recordings, to critical acclaim, and provided the vocals for the Kodak commercial, True Colors. www.americanboychoir.org

Women’s Rights: Equal or Not?
A look at the Constitution, women, and Civil Rights with guest speaker Dolores Meyerhoff, former chairwoman of the East Brunswick High School social studies department. Friday, November 22 • 1 p.m.

In this era of debate about equal pay for women in the workplace, scholar Dolores Meyerhoff will discuss how laws in the United States and the U.S. Constitution have been used both to deny and grant women their rights. During her 30-year career, Mrs. Meyerhoff taught in the East Brunswick High School social studies department, also serving as Chair of the department. She developed and wrote the curriculum for a women’s history course and was honored with the Governor’s Awards for Outstanding Teacher of History. With more than 2400 pages of documentation, it’s no wonder that the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act is confusing to consumers. In this slide presentation, consumer health advocate and author Katherine Woodfield gives an easy-to-understand overview of what is covered by the act and describes the consumer protections built into the act.
