Free Google Digital Applied Skills Classes
|
Get Started The grant will enable the library to expand its training options by offering the Applied Digital Skill Curriculum from Google. This $1,000 grant allows public libraries to provide valuable digital skills classes, which are more relevant now due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Applied Digital Skills Curriculum is a series of video-based, self-paced technology lessons and exams that prepare learners of all ages for the growing number of jobs that require necessary digital skills. As part of the grant, East Brunswick Public Library staff have received professional development training through Five-Star Technologies to properly lead these classes.
The library will be hosting an online event on Wednesday, October 21 at 7:00 pm to show how to access the curriculum. Additional classes will be available in November.
“These classes are developed for people regardless of technical skill level,” said Ysabel Bombardiere, the library’s Technology Training Coordinator. “They can take these classes on their own time and pace.”
Google Applied Digital Skills offers classes and curriculum on various topics, including Google Docs and Sheets, internet search engines, e-mails, and even how to build resumes and presentations.
The training series is free and open to the public. More sessions will be held in the next few months.
