Virtual Social Worker Program Returns to East Brunswick Public Library

Virtual Social Worker Program Returns to East Brunswick Public Library
Thanks in part to a generous grant from the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, the East Brunswick Public Library offers library customers the ability to speak with a health literacy social worker. More Info

“Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is aware that people throughout the county are struggling.  This is a grant to serve all residents of Middlesex County.   Many people have lost businesses and jobs caused by the pandemic.  The social worker will help guide people to places for comfort, assistance, resources for help and skills building so that they can recover emotionally and financially.” said Karen Parry, the library’s Information Services Manager.

Emerith Hernandez Cortes, MSW, Health Literacy Social worker, is a bi-lingual social worker who speaks both Spanish and English.  She can help people with needs such as food, housing, addiction, health services, job loss, small business recovery, places to find employment, and mental health topics.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these sessions are conducted virtually. Ms. Cortes is bilingual; speaking both English and Spanish

Appointments with Ms. Cortes can be made by calling 732-518-8247 or by e-mail at ecortes@ebpl.org. These appointments are digital on Tuesdays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Thursdays from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Fridays from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Sessions are private and confidential. The library advises that if there is an emergency to call 911.

The program runs through November 30. This service is offered through the library’s Just For The Health Of It! consumer health and wellness information initiative. To learn more, visit www.justforthehealthofit.org.

EBPL's Ebooks and Audiobooks Moving from RBdigital to Libby Reading App
Libby will be the new home to RB digital's ebooks and audiobooks.

Digital books previously available through the RBdigital app will be moved to the library’s Overdrive service and available through Libby starting on October 26.  You can still use RB digital to access digital magazines.

Ebooks checked out in the RBdigital app will be available through the remainder of the lending period, so readers can finish the title without disruption. Holds will not be moved, but library patrons may export their Transaction History from the RBdigital app then borrow or place holds on those titles again in Libby.  This service is compatible with all major computers and devices, iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets and Chromebook.
