Talk about Carlyle Floyd’s opera “Susannah” at the Library

Talk about Carlyle Floyd’s opera “Susannah”
at the Library
Thursday January 28th at 7 p.m.

Get ready for a performance of Carlyle Floyd’s opera, “Susannah,” by attending a discussion of it at the East Brunswick Public Library on Thursday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m.  Join Arts Commission member Joanna Barouch for a talk about this opera in anticipation of its performance on Sunday, Jan. 31, at Rutgers. A young girl’s innocence, the hypocrisy of a small town, the lust of a man of God, injustice and murderous hatred all meet in this piece. Based on a story from the Book of Daniel and composed during the McCarthy era, “Susannah” was a metaphor for the paranoia of its time.  For information on tickets for the performance call the Recreation Department at 732-390-6797. Sponsored by the Arts Commission and The Library.
