Shadowsong

The first book was very fast paced, but this one seemed to drag, almost as if the author needed a longer word count. The plot develops somewhat, but not as much as it could have been. Also, the characters are so angst ridden and needy. I love character complexity, but it seems these characters try to be complex, but come off as very whiny. Lastly, there is a large theme of music throughout both books, but it appears much less in the second and some terminology is just really mundane. Still, the book is not horrible by any means. It's just not great. I give it a 2.7/5.
