Mindfulness for Parents and Caregivers of Young Children

Oct 1 - 6:30pm to 7:30pm

Registration is recommended, but walk-ins are welcome.

This event will be held in-person and online, and included a small children's activity.

On Wednesday, October 1 at 6:30pm,  join us for an interactive virtual mindfulness session for parents and caregivers of babies and young children, age 0-5.

Caring for a baby or a toddler can be physically and emotionally exhausting – whether you’re a new parent/caregiver or if you have years of experience...there is chaos! Take this opportunity to put yourself first.

What Is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a practice to check-in with your thoughts, feelings and surroundings. Practicing mindfulness, especially during times of high stress, helps you re-engage with the world around you, re-energize your mind, and safely and effectively manage your emotions.

What to Expect

Presenter Noelle Tongue, BA, IMH-E, will teach and guide you through several mindfulness exercises to reduce anxiety and stress and promote emotional well-being. You will also learn:

  • How a mindfulness routine can support healthy parenting.
  • How to identify signs and symptoms of postpartum depression and anxiety.
  • Free resources on perinatal emotional health, available support groups for pregnant and postpartum families, and resources for perinatal and postpartum support professionals.

Why Attend?

Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Can Last Longer than You Think:

  • Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders like postpartum depression and anxiety can last for months to years after childbirth – 15% of mothers and 13% of fathers experience postpartum depression or anxiety within the first year.
  • Research shows that babies can recognize how a parent is feeling as early as 3 months old. Practicing mindfulness can help you identify when you need more support.
