Estelle: Matron of the Arts

The East Brunswick Arts Commission and EBTV proudly invite you to a screening of the documentary Estelle: Matron of the Arts at the East Brunswick Public Library (2 Jean Walling Civic Center) on Sunday, February 8, at 2:00 pm.

The film, produced by EBTV, honors Estelle Goldsmith and her unprecedented contributions to East Brunswick. It is a love letter to an extraordinary woman who has impacted the community for over 70 years.

Since moving to East Brunswick in 1957 from New York, she has worked tirelessly to enhance the quality of life by creating organizations that would bring the township's history to light and by bringing high-quality arts programming to residents. She's also worked to preserve land from development through the Green Acres program.

This film will explain Estelle's impetus in helping transform what had been a bedroom community into the more desirable locale it is today. It will also leave you in awe that one person accomplished so much. For her leadership, she's been recognized statewide by the New Jersey General Assembly and with a prestigious Russ Berrie Award for Making a Difference, which honors outstanding community service and acts of heroism.

The screening will also feature remarks from Estelle’s children, Diane and Larry Goldsmith, as well as the EBTV production team that created the film.

This event is free and open to the public.
