Welcoming Week

East Brunswick Public Library (2 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive) joins organizations across the country in celebrating Welcoming Week with special programs and events from September 12 through 21.

Established by Welcoming America in 2012, Welcoming Week is a nationwide effort to promote resources throughout the community. The library is participating by hosting several programs.

Welcoming Week begins on Sunday, September 14. Representatives from NAMI NJ’s multicultural outreach programs will share mental health awareness materials from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Mockingbird Melody, East Brunswick’s student-run music volunteer organization, will perform music on classical instruments as well as vocal pieces that range from the baroque period to 21st-century pop. The concert starts at 2:00 pm.

Saladin Ambar, PhD, Senior Scholar at Eagleton's Center on the American Governor and Professor of Political Science at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, presents the lecture “What is Political Leadership?” on Tuesday, September 16 at 7:00 pm. He discusses how the roles of the presidency and governor have developed throughout history.

Immigration attorney Alkesandra Gontaryuk discusses changes to immigration law during an online Zoom program on Monday, September 15 at 7:00 pm.

Other programs include a financial wellness program on Monday, September 15 at 6:00 pm, mobile outreach hours from Senator Andy Kim’s office on Wednesday, September 17 from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, and an information session with New Jersey Statewide Student Support on Thursday, September 18 at 5:00 pm.
