Juneteenth Table
Stop by our Juneteenth table in the library lobby to learn about this federal holiday that commemorates the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally received news of their freedom, marking the effective end of slavery in the United States.
Juneteenth became a federal holiday on June 17th, 2021, when President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law.
