Rainbow Reads Book Club @ the Pride Center
Rainbow Reads - New LGBTQ+ book club collaboration with the Pride Center of NJ and the Highland Park Library. This group meets the 3rd Monday of the month at 7pm at the Pride Center of NJ. Address is 85 Raritan Avenue (Suite #100), Highland Park, NJ
Next Meeting - July 21st at 7pm. We are reading the novel, The Color Purple by Alice Walker. Reserve a copy of the book at this link.
A seminal work in American literature, The Color Purple explores the lives of African American women in early twentieth-century rural Georgia. At its heart are sisters Celie and Nettie, whose bond endures across years of separation, sustained through letters filled with hope, pain, and unwavering love. Through the voices of Celie, Nettie, Shug Avery, and Sofia, Alice Walker crafts a deeply affecting narrative of trauma, resilience, and transformation.
Join the Rainbow Reads book group for lively discussions centered on books by queer and trans authors, or stories that highlight LGBTQ+ characters and themes. While our focus is on LGBTQ+ literature, readers of all identities are welcome to take part in thoughtful, respectful, and engaging conversations.
