Get Pumped Up About Heart Health (Hybrid)

Medical students from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School will teach you how increased stress and lack of sleep impacts hypertension. After explaining how stress impacts blood pressure, they will go into different methods on reducing stress (e.g., journaling, exercise, meditation). Learn about sleep hygiene practices that can help you reach a deeper, more fulfilling sleep. There will be a discussion of sleep apnea and the connection between heart failure and insomnia.   This presentation will be both informative and enjoyable for all participants!

Get Pumped Up About Heart Health

The HEAL team will be covering how smoking and drinking alcohol can negatively impact your cardiovascular health and increase the risk of hypertension. We will also be offering suggestions on how to modify these lifestyle habits to better manage high blood pressure independently in the long term. This program will be accessible in-person at the East Brunswick Public Library and virtually, over Zoom.
