Humanity at Stake

Humanity at Stake by Serenity Dash (a Short Story Contest entry)

My people may be facing a war due to recent events. Blood will shed. Soldiers will die. Their families will grieve. Poor people will suffer the most. Religious and political terms will be thrown around a lot. I’ll have to sit quietly in a different country and just take it all in. If you’ve read upto here, do you know what country I am from? What religion I follow? Does it matter? Does it?

Vehicle Violations

"My wonderful old car had seen better days. Right sideview mirror was taped, left taillight was out, muffler had a hole, and inspection was overdue. A state trooper stopped me.

"Sir, your vehicle has several violations." My reply, "I didn't want to spend money, because I'm picking up a new car tomorrow." He laughed then, I presented my sales receipt, the trooper left saying "Enjoy your new car". Yea! No ticket.

Plant Swap

Have more seedlings than you can plant? Join fellow gardeners for the EB Grow community Seedling Swap outside the East Brunswick Public Library (2 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive) on Sunday, May 18 from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm.

Green thumbs of all experience levels can share their surplus sprouts and pick up new plants to grow. This free event is a great opportunity to connect with local plant enthusiasts, diversify your garden, and give your extra seedlings a new home.

Looking for America on the New Jersey Turnpike

One of the quintessential things that defines New Jersey is the Jersey Turnpike. It is the life-line that connects North and South Jersey and provides major access to New York City and Newark International Airport. Rest stops on the turnpike pay tribute to famous New Jerseyans who have shaped all aspects of American life. Please join us as Angus Gillespie explores the iconography of this historic thoroughfare in discussion of his book Looking for America on the New Jersey Turnpike.
