Kids are introduced to the differences between meat-eating and plant-eating animals. They have the opportunity to look at some dinosaur teeth up close and work as paleontologists, by participating in a mini dinosaur dig that engages their attention and helps them improve their scientific knowledge.

Kids entering grade 1-5 can learn about the eye, how we see, and why our eyes are so easily tricked. They will also discover that water drops can mimic lenses, which can be used to magnify or shrink images. The use of mirrors in optical illusions is easily understood after students build their own periscopes.

Join Laurie Herrick, a health educator from the Middlesex County Office of Health Services, and learn some mindfulness techniques for staying positive, calming your worries, and keeping your cool -- even in the summer heat! For children entering kindergarten & up with an adult.
Follow the clues through the Youth Services Department to win a prize! This short and simple scavenger hunt is perfect for young readers to get familiar with all the different kinds of books we have to borrow. Check in with teen volunteer Srija at the Youth Services desk any time from 10-12 to get the first clue and begin your journey through literary wonderlands!
Meet with Rutgers University Robert Wood Johnson Medical School first-year medical students to learn about summer health and safety in the East Brunswick Public Library lobby, and how to keep your children and family healthy in the Children's Department.

ENVIRONMENTAL OCEAN STORY AND CRAFT HOUR
Children up to 8 years and their families are invited to a reading by the author, Andrea Harrison of "The Selfish Shellfish and the Sick Sea" . Learn about the importance of the ocean as told through the shellfish characters and create an ocean craft afterwards.
Storytime Dance Party with Miss Jolie

Enjoy a special storytime & dance party with Miss Jolie as she reads her published children's book-Searching for Good Luck, while weaving in music, dancing, and mindful moments! Miss Jolie will take the children on a journey to explore different emotions, and discover what it means to feel "lucky". This program is all about GRATITUDE, and instills mindfulness for children through reading, breathing, movement- and of course, having fun!
