What Are Phobias?

"Phobia" is a word that's thrown around a lot in everyday conversation, but it's often used incorrectly. A phobia is a strong, irrational fear of an object or a situation, one that often causes great anxiety. This sensitive and informative volume is a useful guide for readers who may be grappling with a phobia or who know someone who is.

73 Words in the 732 Short Story Competition

The library is looking for your short stories -- honestly, your shortest stories -- for the annual 73 Words in the 732 Short Story Competition.

Your short story can be about anything; the only requirement is that it must be 73 words or fewer.  This competition is open to all ages so your entire family can submit entries.  A panel of library staff selects the best short stories, which are posted on the library's website for the whole community to enjoy.

MakerWeekend: Constellations with EB Astronomy Club

East Brunswick Astronomy Club presents a fun, engaging constellation craft!

Join us for a constellation-themed storytime, constellation fun facts, and make your own constellation telescope with a Take & Make kit from the library! Stop by the library during the week of April 19th to get your kit.

Storytime is appropriate for pre-K and up. Younger kids may need some help from a grown-up to assemble the craft.

All About Allergies

Kids, would you know how to help a friend who was having trouble breathing after accidentally eating something they're allergic to?  Join Sydney, a local Ambassador Girl Scout, as she teaches kids all about serious allergic reactions.  In this interactive video, kids will learn to recognize when they or another person may be having a dangerous allergy and what to do to handle the situation.

The information Sydney presents was reviewed by her advisor, and Allergist and Immunologist.  To learn more, you can visit the resources that Sydney used:
