Vehicle Violations

Vehicle Violations by Donald Carugati (a Short Story Contest entry) 

My wonderful old car had seen better days. Right sideview mirror was taped, left taillight was out, muffler had a hole, and inspection was overdue. A state trooper stopped me.
"Sir, your vehicle has several violations." My reply, "I didn't want to spend money, because I'm picking up a new car tomorrow." He laughed then, I presented my sales receipt, the trooper left saying "Enjoy your new car". Yea! No ticket.
