Dishing Up New Jersey: Exploring Our State’s Food Traditions (Zoom)

Award-winning journalist and food enthusiast, John Holl will be visiting the library to discuss his book Dishing Up New Jersey: 150 recipes from the Garden State. Celebrating the foods, flavors, cultures, and traditions of the Garden State, including recipes that feature NJ’s own produce — tomatoes, corn, cranberries, blueberries, apples — along with others like deep-fried boardwalk treats, Mr. Holl’s talk is the ultimate tribute to New Jersey’s best.

Beach Nesting Birds: The Birds of Summer (Hybrid)

This presentation will explore the unique biology and behavior of New Jersey's beach nesting shorebirds, including piping plover, least tern, blackskimmers, and American oystercatchers. You will hear about the challenges faced by biologists in trying to protect endangered species on our state's busy tourist-filled beaches, as well as learning about the latest management strategies being implemented and the progress being made towards recovery.

No matter where you live in New Jersey, you’re likely around the corner from an interesting museum, historic site, or park. This program utilizes photography and compelling fun facts to highlight cool places around the state including the Roebling Museum, Fort Mott, Whitesbog Village, and more. Whether you’re new to New Jersey or have lived here all your life, you’ll be inspired to visit the places discussed (you’re also welcome to just enjoy this tour from your couch!).
