Health Literacy Table in the library lobby October 7-17, 2024 to find information in multiple languages about health literacy and how it can affect your ability to make informed health decisions, take medicines correctly, manage a chronic disease and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Meet with staff from Garden State Home in the library's lobby to learn about the dangers of lead poisoning and find out if your home may be eligible for free testing and treatment under the New Jersey Lead Remediation and Abatement Program (LRAP).

Lead-based paint hazards exist in most homes built prior to 1978 and can be especially harmful to children and pregnant women.

Get Pumped Up About Heart Health: High Blood Pressure Information Table

The HEAL initiative is a student-run initiative from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School that provides education on high blood pressure management, with a focus on lifestyle modifications. They will also provide information on local community sites to check blood pressure and steps on how to properly track blood pressure at home.

The June session's table topic is "Dietary Approaches to Prevent Hypertension."

The DermaScan is a non-invasive device that shows sun damage and other skin surface conditions, such as dryness and oil deposits.
