JavaScript App-Building Fundamentals

Join us for a free 4-class, in-person course introducing students in grades 4–10 to the fundamentals of JavaScript and app development. Students will learn the basics of coding while creating interactive projects and exploring how their code can be used to build apps.

Course Dates are: 

  • Sunday, October 4
  • Sunday, October 18
  • Sunday, November 8
  • Sunday, November 15

Topics will include interactive user interfaces, variables, conditionals, functions, lists, loops, traversals, parameters, return values, and libraries. Students will also work on projects such as an introductory app and a decision-maker app.

Requirements:  Bring Your Own Laptop (Optional) — Computers Available in the Lab. A Google Classroom and Code.org account are required. A Google App Lab account can be provided if needed.

Location: Computer Lab — Drop-In/Walk-In Welcome

The course will be taught by Raghu, a high school junior with three years of experience in Java, JavaScript, and Python, who has also led coding workshops for elementary and middle school students.
