A blackout poem is when a poet takes a marker (usually black marker) to already established text–like in a newspaper–and starts redacting words until a poem is formed. The key thing with a blackout poem is that the text AND redacted text form a sort of visual poem.

Looking to volunteer at the library? Attend a TAG meeting to find out about all the volunteering opportunities for teens at the library. Have a say in the library's collection, help plan new programs and events, and participate in creative activities. Each meeting attended counts as 1 hour of community service.
Grades 8-12

Yoga is more than doing poses. Yoga is the union of the body, mind, and spirit. Practicing yoga gives you strength in body, peace of mind, and a joyful spirit.

Teens today have a lot on their plates, with super competitive academics and sports, packed schedules, and parental pressure. 

Join this 30-minute teen yoga class to chill out and get in tune with your body. This class focuses on breath work, stretching, relaxation and yes, some postures, such as standing poses, forward bends, balance poses, twists, and seated poses.
