Did you know that there are approximately 30 million followers of Sikhism worldwide, with an estimated 500,000 calling the United States home? To better understand their culture and impact, East Brunswick Public Library (2 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive, East Brunswick, NJ) hosts the Sikh Culture Awareness Day special event on Sunday, April 26 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
This event shares information about the culture and traditions of the Sikh community.
The free event features several activities and performances showcasing Sikh culture, including Turban tying, arts and crafts, Henna, Punjabi Songs, Bhangra and Giddha performances, Dhol drumming and many other activities. Light refreshments will be served.
Throughout the library, there will be several exhibits featuring Punjabi attire, the group’s history and traditions, as well as book displays featuring the work of Sikh authors.
This program is put together through a partnership of the East Brunswick Human Relations Council and the East Brunswick Public Library.
