System Administrator

General Description: 
The library is seeking a skilled System Administrator to manage and maintain its IT infrastructure. The individual will ensure that all library systems and equipment run smoothly, securely, and efficiently. This position includes oversight of the library’s Makerspace, staff training, and providing technical support to library staff.
Schedule: 
35 hours per week, includes weekend and evenings hours, when needed
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Ability: 
  • Analyzing existing computer systems and making recommendations for upgrades and improvements;
  • Developing and overseeing the installation of projects, which include software and hardware;
  • Installing, managing, configuring, and maintaining network infrastructure (including firewall, routers, switches, and wireless access points);
  • Performing tests and troubleshooting network issues;
  • Collaborating with IT Manager to develop data recovery plans;
  • Ensuring all installations, maintenance, and upgrades are completed within deadlines;
  • Troubleshooting library equipment for patrons and staff, including Windows and Mac personal computers, printers, scanners, POS System; 3D printer; and Cricut Maker;
  • Evaluating and collaborating with vendors;
  • Staying current with technology trends;
  • Training library staff, as needed, to ensure that they have the necessary skills for library operation.
Education, Minimum Training and Experience: 
  • A bachelor's degree in information technology or computer science is required. Knowledge of CompTIA, Server+, Network+ preferred. Familiarity with VMware, Fortinet Firewall, Fortinet Switches, and 3D Printers is a plus.
Salary: 
$80,000 depending on qualifications and experience
